The funeral service for Elaine L Eggers, age 80 will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the St Paul’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Fairmont, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
She was born March 22, 1930 on the family farm south of Fairmont, OK to E J C and Kathryn (Lemke) Eggers. She was baptized on April 13, 1930 at Zion Lutheran Church in Fairmont and confirmed there on April 2, 1944. She passed away on August 13, 2010.
She attended Zion Lutheran School in Fairmont and graduated from Concordia High School in Seward, Nebraska in 1948. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Concordia Teachers College in Seward in 1955 and her Master’s degree from Oklahoma State University in 1959.
She taught 21 years at Lutheran schools in Fairmont, Perry, Ponca City, and St Paul’s in Enid, where she also served as principal and church organist. She retired from teaching and worked 14 years as a bookkeeper at the Fairmont Co-Op. In retirement she enjoyed being the “family historian.”
She was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Enid.
Elaine is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Wyssmann of Fairmont and Evonne Gash of Burlington, KS; a brother, Ronald Eggers and wife Kay of Fairmont; and a number of nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces and great great nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
