The funeral service for Edward Alton Durkee, age 83 will be held Friday, March 16, 2012 at 2:30 pm at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Brad Mendenhall will officiate. Cremation will follow the services.
Ed was born on January 25, 1929 near Waynoka, OK to Harry A and Jewel F Wray Durkee. He passed from this life on March 13, 2012 in Clinton, OK with his granddaughter, LaDonna Rothermel and brother, Gary Durkee by his side.
He attended Waynoka Schools. He joined the US Airforce where he would continue to fight for our country for 23 years. After retirement, he came back to Waynoka, then moved to Enid and worked for the Enid Public Schools. He married the love of his life, Elizabeth Johns.
He is leaving behind his granddaughter, LaDonna Rothermel and husband, John Rothermel, Sr of Enid, OK; step-daughter, Dorothy Campbell of Lahoma, OK and step-son, Bill Johns Leedey; brothers, Gary Durkee of Waynoka, OK and David Durkee of Kansas; sisters, Bonnie of Kansas and Nina of Texas; 10 grandkids and 33 great grandkids and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Elizabeth; step-son, Leon Johns; his parents; brothers, Harry, Roy, George and Art; and sister, Rosemary.
