Ona Lee (Onie) Drassen, 87, passed away to be with our Lord on May 5, 2012. Onie was born June 8, 1924 in Enid, Oklahoma to A.D. and Hettie Arnett. She attended a rural school in Hennessey, Oklahoma before attending Enid High School where she graduated in 1942. Following High School she attended Enid Business School where she was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. On April 6, 1947 Onie married Orville (Orv) John Drassen at Central Christian Church in Enid, Oklahoma.
Upon graduating business school, Onie began working for Johnson Grain Company. Following her tenure at Johnson Grain, Onie worked a total of 29 ½ years at Enid General Hospital (now Integris Bass Memorial) in Medical Records, until her retirement on June 30, 1989.
Onie is preceded in death by her husband, Orville; her sister, Alice Yvonne Evers; her mother, Hettie Enix Black; and her nephew, Joe Evers. She is survived by her nephew and family, Jim and Vicki Evers and her great niece and nephew, Alexandria and Jamison Evers.
The family is deeply sadden by Onie’s passing but grateful for the kindness given her in her waning years from the staff of Greenbrier Nursing Home and for her care in her final hours by Hospice Circle of Love in Enid.
Graveside services for Ona Lee Drassen will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Memorial Park Cemetery, with Rev. John McLemore officiating. There will be visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 am prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau- Evens Funeral Home
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
She will be remembered by all she knew.
