Funeral services for Ivan Wesley Dowers, 94, of Enid, will be Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, 2:30 PM at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with Mr. Gene Long and Mr. Steve Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7 to 8PM. Mr. Dowers passed away Aug. 26 at St. Mary’s Medical Center.

Ivan was born Jan. 4, 1918 in Enid, OK the son of George and Saloma Sewger Dowers. He was a veteran of The United States Army-Air Corp serving during WWII. He served in the 434th Squadron of the 12th Bomb Group also known as the Earthquakers and received 7 campaign ribbons for this service. Ivan was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Reddick April 8, 1967 in Enid, OK. He was employed by John Deere from 1947 until his retirement in 2011. He was a founding member of the Oklahoma John Deer Tractor Club. He enjoyed spending time in his garden.

Survivors include his wife Shirley of the home, three daughters, Amy Denise Turner and her husband Richard of Medford, OK, Patti Laine Reidhead and her husband Joe of Springerville, AZ and Vicki Lynn Seward and her husband Larry of Tulsa, OK, two sons, Keith Dowers and his wife Debbie of Beggs, OK and Bruce Eldred and his wife Rebecca of Fairview, nine grandchildren, Britton, Ryan, Brandon, Chad, Spencer, Kari, Kacee, Nicholas and Laurel and two great-grandchildren, a brother, Wayne Dowers of Rosehill, KS, two sisters, Lucille Riffel of Viola, KS and Avanell Long of Enid, OK. He was preceded in death by parents, a son, Ivan Wesley Dowers Jr. and a brother, Marion Dowers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home acting as custodian of the fund. Online condolences may be left at ladusauevans.com.
