A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Life for Connie Jane Dowers, 74, of Enid, will be Friday, January 9, 2015, 2:30 PM at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with a family friend, David Thorpe officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date with cremation under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Connie was born January 6, 1940, the daughter of Lester and Ada Jack Stewart and died January 5, 2015 in Enid, OK.. She was a graduate of Byron-Driftwood High School in 1958 and then attended Beach Beauty Academy obtaining a degree in Cosmetology. Connie met the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Dowers while they attended beauty school and they were united in marriage July 10, 1959 in Byron, OK. Connie and Dick were self- employed hair dressers working together 43 years. They owned Tiara Hair Fashions later known as All About Hair.
In 1997, they moved to Nash, OK where they enjoyed ranching and raising cattle. After Richards death, July 11, 2002, Connie continued raising cattle on the family ranch. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Nash. She was also a member of the Enid Moose Lodge, where she enjoyed spending time with her friends. She loved to watch sports of all kinds, especially OU football. She will always be remembered as a loving “Mam-ma” and spunky, caring lady.
Survivors include a son, Kyle Dowers and his wife Linda of Maysville, OK, a daughter, Leslie Chance of Enid, four grandchildren, Riley Chance and his fiancé, Kaylee Smith, Evan Davis, Tanner Dowers and Cash Dowers, two great-grandchildren, Aubree and Kenden, and a sister, Vickie Cloyd of Byron, OK. She was also preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Nash with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home custodian of the fund. The service can be viewed and online condolences may be left at ladusauevans.com.
