Graveside services for Rutha Bell Douglass age 90 of Enid will be 10:30 am
Wednesday at the Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Don Tines officiating.
Arrangements are entrusted with the
Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Rutha Bell was born January 21, 1921 in Swenson, TX to Bud and Nettie Davis
Norris and died February 12, 2011 in Enid at the Integris Bass Baptist Health
Center.
Bell grew up and attended school in Aspermont, TX. She married Earl Howard
“Jack” Douglass on October 14, 1940 in Washington, DC and he passed away
July 4, 1989. They lived in Aspermont and moved to Enid in 1971. After their
retirement, they traveled the United States before settling in the Rio Grande Valley
in Alamo, TX to be in the warm climate. She worked at Newman’s and later as a
teller for 1st National Bank from 1971 to 1981.
She remained in the valley until June of 2010 when her health forced her to move
back to Enid to be closer to her family. She celebrated her 90th birthday with her
family on January 22, 2011.
She is survived by three sons, Roy and wife Margaret of Arlington, TX, Walter of
Arlington, TX, and Don and his wife Janette of Enid, grandchildren Denise Moseley
and husband Greg of Lewisville, TX, Dennis Douglass and fiancé’ Tiffany Huff of
Kennedale, TX, Brandon Douglass of Arlington, TX, Allyson and Taylor Douglass
of Enid, a great grandchild Brooke Moseley and many nieces and nephews. She
also leaves behind many dear friends from the valley.
She was preceded in death by a son Bud Norris Douglass and a granddaughter
Amy Danielle Douglass.
