Funeral Services for John Fred Decker will be held 11:00am, Friday, July 8, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Covington with Rev. Tommy Donaldson officiating. Burial will follow in Covington Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
John (Fred) was born May 3, 1932 in Sparks, Oklahoma to John and Mamie (Stevinson) Decker, and passed away July 4, 2022. Fred grew up on a farm southeast of Covington. He attended Covington schools. Fred married Mary Jo Mack and from that union were born three children. He later married Helen Sue Alexander and that increased the family by two children. Fred married Pat Gallagher Gehay and three more children came into the family. He did custom harvesting, worked in the oil field for sixty plus years, and owned and operated Decker’s Casing, a couple of bars and the Den Club in Enid. He was a lifetime farmer and rancher. Fred was a very selfless loving man and always put others before himself. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his wife, Pat; children, John Decker, Mike Decker, Tammy Vasquez, Danny Alexander, John Gehay; Michael Gehay, Brandon Gehay; 22 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; 37 great- great grandchildren; siblings, Wayne Decker, Wanda Nadine Morgan, Gwen Close; and a host of nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Ronnie Decker; grandsons, Randall Decker, Ronnie Decker and Christopher Vasquez; sisters, Colleen Arter, Deloris Solorio; two brother, Troy and DeWayne; daughter-in-law, Donna Decker; and granddaughter, Lenora Faye Venable.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
