Darrel was born September 13, 1940, in Aline, OK, to Olin and Edna (Grove) Hager, and passed away June 7, 2024, in Decorah, IA. Millie was born July 25, 1942, in Los Angeles, CA, to Thomas and Mildred (Francis) Upton, and passed away March 25, 2024, in Decorah, IA.

Darrel and Millie were married on June 5, 1960, and raised a family of five children while living mostly in Kansas. They returned to Enid in 1995 and moved to Decorah in 2019.

Darrel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education from Oklahoma State University in 1966. Darrel spent his professional career as an Agricultural Education Instructor/FFA Advisor, a County Extension/4-H Agent, held various positions in agricultural sales and later in life worked for Athey Lumber in Enid.

Darrel never met a stranger and there was not an odd job he could not do. He was often doing “odd jobs” for his children and grandchildren. During retirement he designed and built custom cabinetry.

Millie balanced motherhood while pursuing a nursing career. She returned to college and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pittsburg State University in 1990. She enjoyed sewing, baking, scrapbooking and was an avid reader.

Darrel and Millie both had a strong faith and were active members of First Baptist Church in Enid and attended Stone Ridge Community Church while living in Decorah.

They are survived by four children, Sherri Hager (Shawn Reed) of Aurora, CO; Jeff Hager of Oro Valley, AZ; Mark (Darla) Hager of Enid, OK; and Stacey (Chris) Irwin of Decorah, IA; eleven grandchildren; and three great grandsons. Darrel is survived by his brother Norman Hager of Enid, OK; sister Connie Hager of Bettendorf, IA; and brother Doyce (Rachel) Hager of Cherokee, OK. Millie is survived by her brother Samuel (Valerie) Upton of Shawnee, OK; sister Loretta (Jim) Spleth of Enid, OK; sister Rebekah (Jim) Thompson of Marietta, GA. They are also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

They were preceded in death by their oldest son John Hager. Darrel was preceded in death by his parents Olin and Edna Hager. Millie was preceded in death by her parents Thomas Upton and Mildred Dixon, stepfather Wayne Robinson, and stepfather Dwight Dixon.
