Sarah Bernice Cross, age 91, Colorado Springs, formerly from Enid Oklahoma and Tenkiller Oklahoma, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the Pikes Peak Hospice facility in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Bernice Cross was born on September 2nd, 1919 in Caldwell, Kansas to Jesse L. Howard and Kittie E. Curtis.

She married Clifford Cross on June 17, 1946 in El Reno, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on September 16, 1982. Bernice married William Dale Evans on June 19, 1993 in Enid Oklahoma. Dale died on April 29, 2006.

Bernice enjoyed travelling, playing cards, crafts, crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends. After retiring from Vance Air Force Base, Bernice volunteered at Bass Memorial Hospital where she helped initiate the Life Line program. She is preceded in death by her parents; Clifford and Dale; two brothers, Curtis Howard and George Howard.

Survivors include her son, Greg Cross and his wife, Lynette of Nutrioso Arizona; her daughter, Jill Emanuel and her husband, Jeff of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one brother, James Streitenburger of Lake Tenkiller, Oklahoma; and one grandson; Neal DeSpain of Denver Colorado.

Graveside services will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid Oklahoma, Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 1:00 pm. Reverend Marilynn Schellhamer, her former pastor from Cookson United Methodist Church, Cookson, Oklahoma will officiate.
