The funeral for Nelson L Cronister, age 62 will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 3:00 pm at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Delbert Elmer Cronister will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
Nelson was born February 3, 1948 in Enid, OK to Junior Nelson and Pearl (Estes) Cronister and died May 2, 2010 in Enid, OK. He graduated from Covington High School in 1966.
He joined the Navy and was an electrician on the USS Perry. He was honorably discharged in 1970. He worked in construction until going to work for the Santa Fe railroad in 1975. He worked for Santa Fe for 27 years.
He married Linda Jo Shirkey in 1971 in Woodward, OK. She passed away in August 18, 2003. He liked to coon hunt, ride horses, pitch horseshoes, and drink cold beer.
Survivors include his sons, Nelson Shane Cronister of Enid, OK and Jason F Cronister of Hitchcock, OK; his mother, Pearl Cronister of Hayward, OK; one brother, Ray Dean Bartel of Enid; five sisters, Katherine Cronister of Covington, OK, Barbara Johnson and husband David of Covington, OK, Pamela Bigbey of Enid, OK, Gail Poplin of Enid, OK and Debbie Bell of Enid, OK; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Junior Nelson Cronister in July 2006; and brother, Richard Lane Cronister in 1977.
