Charles Crites

October 6, 1940 — April 19, 2011

The funeral service for Charles F “Chuck” Crites, age 70, will be held Friday, April 22, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Central Christian Church. Rev John McLemore and Rev Don Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Charles was born October 6, 1940 in Enid, OK to Guy and Viola Row Crites and died April 19, 2011 in Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. He attended Enid schools and graduated from Enid High School in 1958. He furthered his education at Santa Monica Jr College in CA. In 1956 he joined the Army Reserve and in 1958 following graduation, he joined the US Marine Corps.

In 1962 he married Eilene Batterman in Enid, OK. They had six children and later cared for 29 foster children. Following honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, he was employed at Aetna Finance, Security National Bank and Liberty Federal Savings Bank, recently retiring from CDSA.

He was a past member of the Jaycees, Elks and the Exchange Club and member and elder at Central Christian Church.

Charles’ great joy in later life was his nine grandchildren. He also loved spending time on the golf course with his father-in-law and brother-in-law, Marion and Marvin Batterman who were also his “coffee buddies.”

Survivors include his loving wife, Eilene, daughters, Angela Bunch and husband Bill of Ponca City, Anita Milam and husband Carl of Oklahoma City, son, Alex Crites of Tracy, CA, Aaron Crites of Enid; daughters-in-law, Stacy Crites and Melissa Crites; brother, Larry Crites and wife Valerie of Jal, NM; sister-in-law, Glenda Martell and husband Bill of McCloud; brother-in-law, Marvin Batterman and wife, Cheryl of Enid; mother and father-in-law, Marion and Delcea Batterman of Enid; grandchildren: Whitney and husband Cory Lyons, Colby Bunch, Ben Milam, Helen Milam, Mary Milam, Laura Crites, Dakota Crites, Brandon Crites, Marisa Crites; several nieces and nephews and his beloved cat, Doodles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Viola Crites, sons, Neal and Alan Crites and brother, Fredrick Crites.

Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation – Heart Division. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.ladusauevans.com.
