James Crawford

September 12, 1944 — February 15, 2015

Funeral service for James Roy "Jim" Crawford will be 10 am Monday, February 23, 2015 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with Pastor David Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jim was born September 12, 1944, in Moline, Ill., to James Clinton & Marian "Lucille" (Metz) Crawford and called home to heaven on February 15, 2015.

James was the lone son, with five sisters, a self-proclaimed "rose among the thorns." His early life was spent around Illinois until the family moved to the Arkansas City, KS, area, where he attended school until his senior year in high school at Shidler, OK.

Disenchanted with school, he entered the Navy in 1963, where he earned his GED. While stationed in Long Beach, CA, he met & married Terry Bowling.

They settled in Enid, where much of his family had moved, in 1969. They eventually separated, but remained friends and raised their five children in Enid. Jim was also reunited with his daughter who had been adopted as a young child.

A jack of all trades, he worked in the oil field on a geological team, worked at Champlin Oil Refinery, on the railroad and was a rural letter carrier for the USPS in Enid & Perry until the early 2000s. He spent the next few years working in the saddle & leather-making industry in Mexico & the movie industry in Albuquerque, NM.

Jim returned to Enid when he met Vickey O’Neal. They combined their families with their wedding on July 7, 2007 and enjoyed many happy memories over the last few years of his life.

Jim, Daddy, Jimbo, and Uncle James never met a stranger & could speak with anyone, regardless of age, race, social stature, and make them feel as though they had been friends for years. He was knowledgeable on seemingly any subject and enjoyed many hobbies & talents, the greatest of which was music. He loved to play guitar & sing, much to the delight of family & friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter Darbi Mahaffey, sisters Faith Anderson, Verla Forshee, Helen Hyde and nephews Butch Anderson, Joe Younger & Brian Barton.

His mellow voice, level-headed wisdom & ornery (but loving) sense of humor will be missed by: wife, Vickey; ex-wife & Vickey's wife-in-law, Terry Crawford; daughter Tani Mahaffey & husband Shawn; daughter Jamie Foster & husband Tracy; son Seamus Crawford & wife Erin; daughter Erin Chappell & husband Kevin; daughter Rebecca Crawford; all of Enid; daughter Kris Price, of Welch, OK; son Bill Williams & wife Terrie, of Oklahoma City; daughter Pamela Barton, of Mustang; daughter Johnnie Rust & husband Steve, of Enid; daughter Amanda Pugh & husband James, of Enid, daughter Christy Juttner of Mississippi; 27 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, many beloved nieces & nephews and many friends in Enid, Perry, Albuquerque, Mexico and anywhere else he spent much time.
