Gene Cravens

June 12, 1940 — August 4, 2012

Funeral service for Gene A Cravens, age 72, will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. James Cravens will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, OK. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-7 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Gene was born to Charlie and Josie Cravens on June 12th, 1940 and went to be with his heavenly Father on August 4th, 2012. He was born on the family farm at Longdale, OK. He grew up in the Longdale area and went to the Longdale School until the school’s closing in 1958, which was his senior year. He then attended Canton. He joined the Army in 1959 until 1962. He met Lola Mae Rhodes the Love of his life and married her on October 18th, 1963. They made their home in Enid. They were blessed with three children Kathleen Kay, Shelly Marie and James Ray. Gene went to work for the City of Enid; then worked in the oilfield for a while. He then went to work for Horne Oil in 1973 until he retired in 2005.

Gene enjoyed so many things in life. His family was always his number one priority. He loved spending time with them.

He was a loyal OU fan and never missed a Basketball or Football game. He loved watching the games with his wife and son.

Gene understood the importance of enjoying life and always made people laugh.

Gene is survived by his wife Lola of the home, two daughters Kathy and husband Larry Kime of Perry, OK, Shelly Mead of Enid, OK and son James and wife Kinta Cravens of Enid, OK. Nine grand children and eleven great grand children. His sister, Esther Cravens of Fairview, OK and Georgia Morrison of Fairview, OK.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, four brothers and four sisters.
