A Celebration of Life service for Dorothy E. Coppock age 85 of Cleo Springs will be 10 am Thursday at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church with Rev. David Reber, Jr officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Dorothy was born September 8, 1934 in Enid to Ralph and Rose Herth Mitten and passed away Sunday at her home. Dorothy attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Enid High School. She worked many years at Fairview Fellowship Home.
Dorothy married William Hudgens in 1951, together they had a son Bill Hudgens. After William’s death, she married Raymond “R.C.” Coppock on October 22, 1954 in Clayton, NM and they made their home first in Enid and then they moved to the farm near Cleo Springs. They milked cows, raised bottle babies, and cattle. Dorothy enjoyed riding around her farm on her buggy, checking cows and feeding wild geese that nested on her ponds. She also loved feeding the many hummingbirds that showed up year after year. Dorothy was best known for her cooking skills, direct manner, her love of family, Jesus Christ and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Linda Coppock of Haskell, OK, son Bill Hudgens and friend Lisa McGehee of Enid, daughter Crystal Kingcade and husband Melvin of Cleo Springs, son Raymond Coppock, Jr and friend Dana Bowen of Holdenville, and son John Coppock and wife Tammy of Cleo Springs, 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, sisters, Lovella Fisher and Kathy Austin, and brothers, Ralph Mitten, Jr. and Wayne Mitten.
She was preceded in death by her husband R. C., and two sisters, Ruth Helberg and Patty McMahan, and daughter-in-law Theresa Hudgens.
Memorials may be made to Cleo Springs Senior Center with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the fund.
