Graveside services with military honors for Arthur “Cookie” Cook Jr. will be held Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 2:30 pm at the Covington Cemetery in Covington, OK. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm Wednesday at The Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and from 1-2 pm Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Covington. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Cookie passed away April 23, 2012. He was born October 21, 1935 to Arthur and Lorraine Cook, Sr. in Polo, OK. He attended grade schools at the Sinclair Oil Field, in Polo, OK. and graduated high school in 1953 in Perry, OK. After high school he attended Draughn Business College. In 1954 he joined the US Air Force.

May 8, 1955 he married Myrna Alger at Schilling AFB, Salina, KS. They had three daughters, Kim, Sondra and Tammy.

He retired after 20 years in the US Air Force and went to work at Vance Air Force Base and retired after 24 years of service. He was an avid OU Fan. He loved to fish, garden and do woodworking. One of his favorite things to do was watch his kids, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports. He looked forward to organizing the small Air Force Reunion in Branson, MO every year and reliving old war stories! He also loved the 40th Bomb wing reunions they attended.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 190 and a lifetime Honorary Girl Scout after serving the Girl Scouts at Beale AFB, CA.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Myrna; three daughters, Kim Smelser, Sondra and Eddie Easterly, all of Covington, OK, Tammy and Bobby Hankins of Lahoma, OK; six granddaughters, Brandi and Drew Sharp, Heather Easterly, April and Scotty Boling, Jamie and Craig Keiter, Krystal and Brad Kroeker, and Chelsea Hankins; seven great grandchildren, brother and sister-in-law, Byron and Billie Alger.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.
