Joe Stanley Compton passed away in Enid, OK on February 5, 2010.
Joe was born in Beaver, OK to James (Pug) and Irene Compton on November 20, 1942. He attended Forgan School where he graduated. He and Joyce Rogers were married in 1961 in Pacatello, ID on July 11th. They made their home in Forgan until selling out in 2008 when they moved into their 5th wheel camper to spend their time at the lakes where they both enjoyed camping and fishing and meeting people camped at the lake.
Joe and Joyce had two children: Ruby Sheree and Preston Dean Compton.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, James (Pug) and mother, Irene Compton; brother, Tony Compton, half-brother Dean Compton and his daughter, Ruby Sheree Compton Holley.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce; son, Preston and wife BeveraDawn; grandsons Kaleb and Kody Compton, Preston Dean Holley all of Skiatook, granddaughter, Starla Renee Holley of Beaver; three great grand kids; a host of cousins, nieces and nephews; brothers and sister-in-laws.
Joe had a lot of real close friends and made friends everywhere he went. Joe and Joyce spent the past winter and summer at Fort Supply lake doing volunteer work and fishing until Joe took sick in October. Their son moved them to Skiatook.
Graveside services will be Friday, February 12, 2010, at 11:00 am at the Forgan Cemetery. Bill Nichols will officiate. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
