Christine was born January 19, 1953 in Pratt, Kansas, to James and Jodean (Rush) Sims, and passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at her home in Enid surrounded by her family. She attended Enid Schools and graduated in 1971. She attended Phillips University in 1971 and graduated in 1975 with a degree in Education. She met Michael Clifton while attending college and later they were married on August 2, 1975. Christine followed her husband’s Army career to many locations, but the 3 years spent in Germany and Europe were some of her favorite. They returned to the states in 1986 to start a new chapter in their lives. She then began her teaching career in Newkirk, OK. Six years later her family moved to Enid, where she taught at Taft Elementary and then retired after 25 years in 2011. She enjoyed her time spent with former teachers at regular luncheons after her retirement. She had such a love for children and always looked forward to seeing her former students. She was a member of The Christian Church of the Covenant. She enjoyed the time spent working alongside her dear friend Diane with their church youth group when she attended Willow Road Christian Church. One of Christine’s favorite hobbies was scrapbooking with her friends and family. She would spend hours bringing all the many photographs to life with the amazing albums she would create. These memories will be cherished by her loved ones for many years to come. Her family was the most important part of her life. She was the nucleus of the family keeping everything together and operating smoothly. Those that knew Christine, experienced her ability to carry on a conversation that was so detailed no one would miss out on what had happened in her experiences. She was always concerned about her children and grandchildren’s futures, always having a plan for them to succeed in life. She could not have been more proud of her family, whom she loved so deeply.
Christine is preceded in death by her parents, James and Jodean Sims.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Clifton, of the home in Enid; two sons, Jeremy Clifton and wife Kim, of Enid; James Clifton of Enid; five grandchildren, Ethan and Lillian Clifton; Jarron Peters and wife Amanda, of Enid; Cody Peters and wife Sandra, of Tennessee; Hannah Henning, of Colorado; sister, Toni Avants and husband Stony, of Garber; uncle Hardie “Bubby” Rush and wife Joyce, of El Dorado, KS; three nephews, Jimmy Rogers, Jordan Avants, and Jesse Avants; and cousin, Lisa Rush, of El Dorado, KS, as well as many friends.
