The funeral service for Vernon E Chodrick, age 91 will be Monday, February 21, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Don Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Enid Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation with the family Sunday evening, from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Vernon was born June 18, 1919 in Southard, OK to Everett D and Edith Tharp Chodrick and died, February 17, 2011 in Enid. He was raised mostly in the Oklahoma and Kansas area.
He served in the U S Army and was discharged in 1945. He married Lucy Robertson on September 9, 1941 in Nowata, OK. They were married for 54 years.
He was owner of the Chodrick Plumbing from 1973 to 1982. He was a member of DAV, and American Legion. Vernon’s hobbies include bowling, playing golf and fishing. He took trips to Colorado for fishing, visited the Grand Canyon in 2003, riding mules to the bottom of the canyon.
Survivors include his sons, Vernon E Chodrick, Jr and wife Wynne of Enid, OK, Norman Chodrick of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Merry Leggett of Alpharetta, GA and Teresa Bigham and husband Bill of Amarillo, TX; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; and sister, Valeta Montgomery of Enid, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lucy; and brothers, Robert Lee and Russ Chodrick.
