Steven Christopher Choate of Enid, Oklahoma passed away April 24th, 2010. Steven was born in Youngstown, Ohio June 13th, 1967, to Dennis and Laura Williams Burkey.
Steve was a wrestler and trumpet player at Enid High School where he graduated in 1985. He went on to earn a B.S in Electrical Engineering from Oklahoma State University and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He had a very successful career with BP-Amoco, where he worked for 19 years.
Steven moved to Enid at a young age where he spent the remainder of his childhood with his mother, Laura, and step father William Choate. He enjoyed camping and hiking, but more than anything, loved playing with his children Madeline and Connor. Their favorite game was freeze tag.
Steven is survived by his children, Madeline and Connor, their mother Kimberly Earl Choate, his mother Laura Choate, step-father William Choate and his wife Pam, father Dennis Burkey and his wife Sharyn, brother Kevin Choate and his wife Jill, sister Lori Fisk and her husband Mike, brother William “Billy” Choate, sister Rachel Adams and her husband Dusty, sister Denise Kuhlman and her husband Patrick, sister Amy Arthurs and her husband Dave, aunt Ann Reed, cousin Scott Johnson and his wife Grace, and ten beloved nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his grandparents Ernest and Betty Williams, Nora Choate, and Louis and Elizabeth Burkey, uncle Ralph Reed and cousin Kenneth Reed.
There will be an opportunity for visitation by family and friends at Ladusau Evans Funeral Home in Enid, OK through Thursday. A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Thursday April 29th at First Baptist Church, located at 401 W. Main in Enid, OK. Rev Keith Miller will officiate
