James Chesnut

July 31, 1922 — March 30, 2011

The memorial service for James W “Jay” Chesnut, age 88, will be held Friday, April 1, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Waukomis Methodist Church. Rev Garry Vincent will officiate. Cremation arrangements are made by Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. There will be a time of visitation with the family Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6-7 pm.

Jay was born July 31, 1922 in Enid, OK to James A and Mary Ellen Allen Chesnut and died March 30, 2011 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

He grew up and farmed in the Drummond area. He was an electrician and a brick mason. In his later years, he was in the oil business and ran thoroughbred race horses.

He married Jodean Rapp on April 13, 1943 in Neosho, MO.

He served in the US Army Air Corp from 1942-1946. He was a member of the Eastern Star; was a 32 degree Mason; a member of the Grand Lodge of AF& AM; a member of the Enid Shrine Club; and a member of the Waukomis Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jodean; son, Tim Chesnut and his wife, Thelma of Enid, OK, daughter, Kathi Chesnut-Massa and her husband, Bob of Oklahoma City, OK; 7 grandchildren: Bengi Beebe, Torrie Vann, Kimi Vesta, Tennille Chesnut, Kati St. John, Tony Chesnut, Tianne Dent and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 grandchildren.
