Geneva Cearley

June 12, 1924 — June 30, 2011

Geneva Elda (Wooley) Cearley went to her heavenly home on June 30, 2011 in Enid, OK. She was born on June 12, 1924 in Oklahoma City, OK to Roy and Rhoda (Garland) Wooley. She grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City with the Class of 1943. She and her sister, Lelia Lois worked at Tinker Air Force Base during WWII.

She met Delbert Cearley at the Tip Toppers Club in Oklahoma City (a club for tall people). They were married July 14, 1951 and moved to Enid in 1953.

She was a homemaker until 1966, when she began working with her husband in his business, Lytle’s Sporting Goods and Loans. She also served as an election clerk for the Garfield County Election Board.

Geneva was president of the Enid A.B.W.A. Geneva served for 37 years in the Excelsior Chapter and was “Woman of the Year” in 1975. Out of love for her children, she served as a Blue Bird and Campfire Girls leader for many years.

Her beautiful singing voice was part of the Acapella Choir in high school and Davis Park

Christian Church and Oakwood Christian Church. She was also a part of the “Good Timers” band for several years entertaining at nursing homes and other venues in Enid.

Geneva and Delbert enjoyed fishing and hunting in their spare time, with a home on Grand Lake in their retirement years.

She loved Jesus and modeled her Christian faith for her children and grandchildren. Her sense of humor kept those around her laughing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Rhoda Wooley; her husband Delbert Cearley; a sister, Lelia Lois Brown and an infant brother.

She is survived by her daughter, Iona Morisse (and Randy) of Enid, OK; twin daughters, Nina Boyd (and Preston) and Nita Cheatham (and Charles) both of Oklahoma City, OK; a son, Dwain (and Sandy) Cearley of Rowlett, TX; one brother, LeRoy Wooley (and Nancy) of Tahlequah, OK; also nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
