A Memorial service for Foy “Bob” Cates, age 78 will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel. Rev Gary Hendrickson will officiate. Memorial services will be under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Bob was born November 19, 1932 in Durham, NC to Foy Elex and Valira Noble Cates and died at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center May 2, 2011.
He moved to Enid in 1951. He entered the US Air Force in 1951. He was stationed at Vance AFB, serving 23 years and retired. After the service he became a jailor at the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, then a deputy, and then sheriff until 1989 for four years.
He loved to bowl, go to Casinos, stock racing, and he loved the outdoors.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Bell of Enid and Sherry Cates of Enid; a son Bobby Cates of Oklahoma City; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren which includes a special grandson Brandon Cates and his wife Nicole of Guthrie, a special companion, Irene Jenkins of 16 years of Enid and her family Terecia Clay and husband Harold and Pat Wegener and her husband Billy Joe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Kathy Cates.
