Barbara Canning

September 12, 1932 — March 31, 2015

A memorial service and celebration of life for Barbara Kay Canning, age 82, of Enid, is 10:00 am, Saturday, April 4, 2015 at New Hope United Methodist Church. Reverend Diana Pruitt will officiate. A visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, Friday, April 3, 2015 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Inurnment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum, Enid, OK. Barbara passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

Barbara was born September 12, 1932, in Hutchinson, Kansas to Samuel Wentworth and Virginia (Gregory) Wentworth. She graduated from Hutchinson High School then graduated from Adela Hale Business School in Hutchinson. While attending business school, she met and married John J. Canning on July 29, 1951. They had four children, and moved to Enid in 1971. She enjoyed traveling all over the United States with John. She especially enjoyed trips to Red River, New Mexico with her family. She was a member of the local chapter of TOPS, and served several terms as president. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by John Canning, her husband of 63 years, of the home in Enid; three children, son John G. Canning and wife Iola, of Enid; son Joe Canning and wife Tana of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughter Bonnie Cannon and husband Dennis Valtr of Enid, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, Traci daRosa and husband Marcelo, of Euless, Texas; Jonathan Bocox, of Edmond, Oklahoma; Carla Townsend and husband Tom of Owasso, Oklahoma; Jacob Canning and wife Stacie, of Enid, Oklahoma; Brian Canning of Burleson, Texas; Kaelyn Hedges and husband Hesston, of Fairmont, Oklahoma; Sara Canning, of Enid, Oklahoma; Lyndsey Canning, of Ft. Worth, Texas; four great-grandchildren numerous nieces, nephews and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Ginny Schulz.

Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.,
