A Celebration of Life for Joenita Burns, 84, of Enid, will be Thursday, December 29, 2016, 10:00 AM at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Pullin officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Joenita was born April 23, 1932 in Enid, Oklahoma the daughter of Joe and Florine “Ted” Dolan and passed away December 26, 2016.
She was a graduate of Enid High School in 1950 and attended Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma graduating in 1954 with a degree in Pharmacy. She returned to Enid and ran the pharmacy at the Enid Clinic for Sanford Stunkle. Joenita was united in marriage to Warren Burns from 1962 to 1983. In 1964 she quit working to raise a family. In 1976 she returned to work and managed the Ideal Drug Store. After Ideal closed she opened her own pharmacy called United Pharmacy and she operated the pharmacy until her retirement in 1998. During those years she became a Doctor of Pharmacy. After retirement, Joenita she worked part time for Scheffe’s and was awarded her 50th year pharmacy licence and pin in 2005.
She was a member of the Delta Theta Chi Sorority since 1959, VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary and the ABWA. She will be remembered as hard worker, a great pharmacist and a loving mother and friend.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Burns and his wife Tonya of Enid, Paul Burns of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a granddaughter, Juliann Carson and her husband Jason, three great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Alex and Riley, her brother, Pat Dolan and his wife Shirley of Morris, Oklahoma, several nieces and nephews and a close friend and companion for more than thirty years, Jack A Rogers. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jerry.
