A Celebration of Life for Karolyn K. Bruner, 74 of Enid, will be Monday, September 19, 2016, 10:00 AM at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kirk Board officiating.
Karolyn was born October 27, 1941 in Alva, OK to Ralph E. and Wanda E. (Irwin) Bruner. She passed away August 18, 2016.
Karolyn graduated from Carmen High School in 1959 and Enid General Hospital, School of Nursing in 1962. She served in the Air Force Reserves based out of Oklahoma City from 1965-71 at the rank of Captain. She was a registered surgical nurse for years working in Oklahoma City, Twin Falls, ID, Denver, CO, and Enid. She was last employed by doctors Blankenship, Hoffman, and Lewis of Enid Urology.
Karolyn was a member of the Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates and served as the association’s second President in 1972. She was a member of Central Christian Church, Enid. She was a fan of the University of Oklahoma and held season tickets to OU football games. She had an appreciation for sports cars and even competed in road rallies with her Miata. She enjoyed reading a variety of authors’ works, browsing the many catalogs and magazines she received, and traveling having seen many places around the world and U.S. She is remembered by those who knew her for her kind and beautiful spirit, her big heart and generous attitude, for her talents in serving others, and as a very caring and compassionate person.
Survivors include her one brother R.E. (Ed) Bruner and wife Winona of Carmen, niece Jada Gailey and husband Michael of Stillwater, nephew Ryan Bruner of Watonga, three great-nephews, Wyatt, Evan and Zane, and two great-nieces Liza and Melissa and numerous cousins and close friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association or OMRF, Heart Division with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home custodian of funds.
