Monte was born September 25, 1954, in Kingfisher, Oklahoma to Vernon Sr. and Ruth (Garrison) Breckenridge, and went to be with the Lord on March 12, 2024. Monte graduated from Hennessey High (Class of ‘72), then attended Oklahoma State University, followed by schooling at Northwestern in Alva, Oklahoma, while also working on the family ranch with his father. After completing two years of study in college, he returned to the Hennessey (Lacey) community to join his father fulltime in the family farm and ranch program. Monte had a special love for horses and cattle. Monte, his wife and daughters sacrificed throughout the years to not only continue his dad’s legacy but also to build a legacy for himself. He loved spending any spare time with his family and looked forward to family gatherings often. He also enjoyed hunting and helping provide an opportunity for others to participate in the sport. Monte continued to farm in the Hennessey (Lacey) community until his passing. His daughters and grandchildren plan to continue the Breckenridge farm and ranch legacy as he always dreamed. He was well respected in his community of Hennessey, and the surrounding communities as well.

Monte married Lydia Williams of Enid, on May 23, 1980, and together they enjoyed more than 43 years of marriage. To this union, they were blessed with 3 daughters. Monica (Maurice) Jones of Perkins, Oklahoma. (As a bonus, Maurice brought 4 daughters and 8 grandchildren). Melanie McKinnon of Hennessey, Oklahoma with children Imani, Immanuel and Isaiah. Miya (Robert) Puckett of Muskogee, Oklahoma with children Micheal, Ra’Shaun and Monte’.

Monte leaves to cherish his memories and continue his legacy, Lydia of the home, his daughters, Monica, Melanie and Miya; five grandsons, one princess granddaughter; his mother, Ruth; two brothers, Ennis Breckenridge (Jane), and Thomas Breckenridge, one sister Ruchele Morris (David), and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon D. Breckenridge, Sr. and his brother, Vernon D. Breckenridge, Jr.
