Donald Blom

A Celebration of Life and Remembrance for Donald Jay Blom, age 81, of Enid, is 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain Bill King will officiate. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. in Roselawn Cemetery in Okeene, Oklahoma. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Don passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015 in Enid.

Don was born February 27, 1934 in East Orange County, New Jersey to William Blom and Linnea (Hultberg) Blom. He was raised in Worcester, MA and attended school there before joining the United States Navy “to see the world.” He met and married Judith Lee Modenbach in 1959 and they had two sons, Billy and Jay. She preceded him in death. Don was attending Washington Avenue Bible Church, where he met Fay Grothe. They married September 16, 1978 and celebrated 36 years together. Don worked as a fuel control specialist at Vance Air Force Base for 34 years. He retired in 1997. Don was an amateur radio operator and was very active in Enid Amateur Radio Club. He was also an ordained minister with multiple ministries and served the Lord in rest homes and small churches.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, wife Judith, two brothers, Bob and Ernie Blom, and sister-in-law Doris Blom.

Don is survived by his wife Fay of the home in Enid; two sons, Billy and wife Cristy, of Enid; Jay Blom, of Oklahoma City, OK; step-daughter, Terri Grothe, of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandsons, James Blom and wife Tasha, of Waukomis, OK; Joshua and Jordan Blom, of Enid; three great-grandchildren, Kelcy and Madison Blom, of Waukomis, and Noah Webb, of Enid, as well as numerous nieces and nephews all along the eastern seaboard.

Memorials may be made to The Wounded Warrior Project with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodians of the funds.
