The funeral service for Mary Long Blackburn will be held Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 10:00 am at the First Baptist Church in Enid. Rev Keith Miller and Rev Clayton Conley will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation with the family from 7-8 pm ,Friday, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Mary Ellen Slater was born to Roy and Eleanor Slater, December 21, 1939 in Cushing, OK and died suddenly Wednesday, December 15, 2010. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, in Enid, OK. Mary was known by her quiet and gentle spirit.
Mary graduated from Cushing High School Class of 1958. She married her high school sweetheart, Marvin Long, November 14, 1958. They began their Air Force career and along the way were blessed with four children, Rhonda, Rusty, and twins, Angela and Tamara. In 1967 they settled in Enid, OK. Marvin passed away May 28, 1986.
She married the next love of her life and best friend, Lewis Blackburn on December 31, 1987. Lewis joined our family with his four children, Scottie, Rose Ann, Wade and Anthony. Lewis and Mary enjoyed life to the fullest traveling through Europe and many other adventurous trips.
Mary worked at Sears in the Catalog department then as Supervisor in the Maintenance Agreement department until March of 1985. She worked as an Avon Representative for over 30 years earning many awards and along the way made many long time friends.
She loved playing Bingo, never missing a Monday or Wednesday night at the Moose Lodge. We just know she is looking for the next Bingo game.
She is survive by her husband, Lewis, her daughter, Rhonda Gallagher and husband Mike, Rusty Long and wife Patricia, Angela Landers, Tamara Sturgeon and husband Mike, Scottie Blackburn and wife Leslie, Rose Anne Ackerman and husband, Bobby, Wade Blackburn and wife Jeanna and Anthony Blackburn and wife Stephanie, 24 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and many special friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin, her parents and her granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth.
Many loved her Lord Jesus Christ, and is now dancing in Heaven. Sweetheart, mom and grandma, we will miss you always.
