Frances Bishop

Frances Louise (Campbell) Bishop, 91 years old, passed from this life to her eternal home with Jesus Christ, on January 24, 2010, in Tulsa, OK. Frances was born on May 11, 1918, on a farm near Carrier, OK. to Elliott A. and Mabel (Thompson) Campbell. She attended school in Spring Valley, Goltry and graduated from Enid High School in 1936, going on to Enid Business College and then employed by George E. Failing Co.

She met her future husband, James R. Bishop, while he was stationed at Enid Air Force Base during World War II. They were married on January 14, 1944 in Elizabethtown, PA at the Evangelical United Brethern Church. After Jim’s discharge from the Army Air Corp, they returned to Enid to raise their two children.

Frances would list her accomplishments in life as simple but important ones. She was a wife, mother, homemaker and member and active participant in their church, First Evangelical United Brethren Church which became Willow View United Methodist Church.

She went back to work when the children were in high school where she was employed at Craig Pest Control, 1964-1977 and then Lugar Oil Company from 1978 to 1989.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, and 3 siblings: Gail Reeves, Hazel Weatherby, and Sam Campbell. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Jim Bishop, two children: Lana L. Bebee and Ron (Tulsa) and Sam Bishop (Enid), one sister, Pauline Brauser, Oklahoma City. She was a loving, devoted grandmother to 3 grandchildren: Ryan Bebee (Susannah), Ross Bebee (Elizabeth) and Robin Blose (Jonathan); 3 great-grandchildren: Shawn & Clara Bebee and Braxton Bebee, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Willow View United Methodist Church on Thursday, January 28th at 1:00 pm. Rev Lesly Broadbent will officiate. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
