Mary Bigheart

July 10, 1931 — May 8, 2013

Mary Bigheart was born July 10, 1931 in DeNoya (Wizbang), Oklahoma to Harold and Marguerite Johnson. Mary passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at the home of her son-in-law and daughter near Garber, Oklahoma surrounded by her children and other family members.

Mary grew up in Little Chief, Oklahoma and married Sonny Bigheart in 1947. Sonny and Mary raised their three children in oilfield towns across Kansas and Oklahoma. She made numerous friends over the years. Sonny and Mary made their home in Enid, Oklahoma in 1980 when Sonny started Bigheart Drilling Company. Her passion was her children and grandchildren. Mary fought a courageous 45 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis which took her ability to walk 30 years ago, but today she dances in heaven with her Lord and Saviour. Mary was an example to her family and others of how to face adversity with courage, faith and dignity.

Mary is survived by her three children and their spouses; Mike and Terry Bigheart, Steve and Debbie Bigheart and Cindi Bigheart and Richard Staerkel. Her grandchildren and their spouses are Conrad Bigheart and his wife Jill, Kasie Turk and her husband Jason, Buck Bigheart and his wife Alisha, Jami Decker and her husband Michael, Shanda Slater and her husband Zach, Lynsey Bigheart and Corbin Bigheart. Her precious great grandchildren include Ashlyn, Sadie, Jase, CJ, Ryen, Trajan, Brayden, Reece, Taylor, Savannah, Brock, Gracie, Mikah, Zerek and Jersey. Mary was preceded in death by her father and mother.

Services for Mary will be 10:00 am on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 N Van Buren, Enid, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Multiple Sclerosis Foundation in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be made on line at www.ladusauevans.com
