Martha Ann Waas Baze died at Golden Oaks Village in Enid on January 30, 2011.
She was born August 22, 1924 in Tonkawa, OK. Her parents were Charles Henry
Waas and Drusilla Clendenin Waas. She had three siblings, her brother Henry
and her sisters Lulu May and Drucy. Martha graduated from Clinton HS in 1942.
She earned her BS in Ed from OU in 1946 and her masters from OU in 1949. In
1953, she married the love of her life, Don Baze. They had three children, Lu Ann,
Scott and Kurt. In early 1961, the family moved to Enid where she would live the
rest of her life. She taught Special Education classes in the Enid Public Schools
until her retirement. Martha loved to travel, to sew, to knit and to volunteer at Bass
Hospital. She was most at home in nature, where she loved the forests, pine
trees, fast flowing streams and watching Aspen leaves dance in the a cool breeze.
She and Don moved to Golden Oaks Village 16 years ago. The staff at GOV has
provided tremendous care for both Don and Martha as they lived out their lives.
She and her family want to thank Dr. Switzer and Ross Hospice for the quality care
that they provided. Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, her
daughter-in-law Amanda Baze and her husband, Don. She is survived by her
children; daughter Lu Ann Hill and husband Jim of Hennessey, OK; son Scott Baze
and wife Rhonda of Yukon, OK; son Kurt Baze and wife DeeDee of Stillwater, OK;
grand children Luke Baze of OKC, Abby Baze of OKC, Brandy Baze of Kansas City,
Ben Hill of Hennessey, Kirsty Baze of Norman, OK, and Joshua Hill and Rebecca
Hill of Hennessey; and one great-grandson, Asher Baze of OKC. Graveside
services were held January 31, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Donations to
honor her memory should be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements
were under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
