Graveside services for Ronald D. Bateman, 74 of Oklahoma City, formerly of Enid, will be Tuesday, July 3, 2012, 2 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Services are under the direction of the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Ron passed away suddenly June 28, 2012 in Tulsa, OK.
Ron was born March 25, 1938 in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of William and Irene England Bateman. He was a 1956 graduate of Enid High School. Ron was a veteran of the United States Army. Ron was united in marriage to Laila Dierksen in 1960 in Enid. He was employed by OGE in the engineering department 37 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of The American Legion. He enjoyed fishing for stripers at Lake Texoma and “Big Reds” along the Texas Gulf Coast. For many years he was also an avid trivia player.
Survivors include the love of his life, Sharon Humes of the home, son, Mark Bateman of Tulsa, OK, sister, Leeann Goodman and her husband Joe of Mississippi, five step-grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and step-father, Irene and Loyd Benefiel and a sister Betty Steffen LaFaver.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor’s choice with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home acting as custodian of the fund.
