Barbara Jeanene Moore, age 86, of Enid, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 12, 2024 after a short illness. A Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 24, 2024 at Garland Road Baptist Church in Enid, OK. Cremation and funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Barbara was born June 1, 1938 to J.T. and Avis McKinney in Corpus Christie, TX. The family later moved to Oklahoma where Barbara graduated high school as a proud Jenks Trojan and Valedictorian in 1956. She soon began working at Harrison-Williams Insurance Agency in Tulsa.
She married A.J. Moore on December 31, 1959, and daughter Marisha was born in 1970. The couple moved to Enid, OK in 1965 and Barbara began work at Messer-Bowers Company where she was employed for over 40 years as office manager. Barbara earned her Certified Professional Insurance Woman designation and later was the first woman in Northwest Oklahoma to earn the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter certification in 1982. Barbara was highly involved in the Insurance Women of Enid. Barbara valued education and inspired young women to become educated in the insurance field or profession of their choosing.
Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church of Enid and then became a founding member of Garland Road Baptist Church in 1986 where she served as Treasurer for many years. Barbara’s relationship with Jesus Christ was most important to her over her entire life and was central to everything she did.
Barbara loved to travel and was an avid reader. Later in life, Barbara met Richard Bruhn and the two of them traveled many places together over 18 years and had a fabulous time together. Barbara loved OU, Elvis, cross-stitch, photography, flowers and gardening, good food, desserts, music, and the Republican party. New York City and Paris were two of her favorite places to travel.
Barbara is survived by daughter Marisha of Westport, OK, niece Mandy Moore of Stafford, VA., and nephew Jim McKinney of Jenks, OK.
Memorial contributions in Barbara’s name can be made to Loaves and Fishes with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
