Ronald Baker Sr

Funeral services for Ronald O. Baker Sr. age 81 of Enid will be 10 am Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Elder J. R. Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Ronald was born January 19, 1932 in Los Angeles, California to Harold S. and Eloise M. Wise Baker and passed away at his home Tuesday, July 9, 2013. He was raised in the Los Angeles area where he attended Los Angeles Academy and David Star Jordan High. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on September 4, 1952 and was honorably discharged on September 3, 1954. He received a Purple Heart medal for his combat duty.

Ronald married Dorothy Mae James on June 12, 1955 in Los Angeles, California and celebrated 58 years of marriage. He worked for the City of Los Angeles as a horticulturist, retiring after 37 years. They moved to Enid in 1997.

Ronald was a long time member of Normandie Seventh Day Adventist Church and after moving to Enid became a member of the Philadelphia Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy of the home, daughter Stephanie R. Abell of Enid, sons; Cedric J. Baker Sr. and wife Ilene of Drummond and Ronald O. Baker, Jr. of Bellflower, CA, brothers Harold Baker Sr. of Apple Valley, CA. and Earl Baker of Inglewood, CA., sisters Marlene Grismore of Fontana, CA. and Lucritia Nelson of Los Angeles, CA, five grandchildren Dawntisha Jones, Stacy Glaspie, Starla Abell, Breanne Yazel, and C. J. Baker Jr. and 9 great grandchildren and host of other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jerald Baker Sr. and a sister Carolyn Veal.
