Graveside service for Ronald “Ron” N. Ashby age 71 of Blackwell, OK will be 2:00 pm Monday, May 7, 2018 in the Waukomis Cemetery with Rev. Jim Edmison officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Silver Talon from Vance Airforce Base. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Ronald was born May 29, 1946 in Blackwell, OK to Chester and Pauline (Lukenbaugh) Ashby and passed away May 2, 2018 in the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Ron attended school in Lahoma, OK and graduated in 1964. He entered the U. S. Airforce in 1964 serving in Turkey and went to Korea when North Korea they captured the USS Pueblo on January 23, 1968. He was honorably discharged on October 18, 1968. Ronald married Carol Fallis on June 13, 1970. Ron worked at Vance Air Force Base in 1969 retiring in 1995 after 25 years. Ron loved antiques and his passion was collecting fruit jars, but also collected bottles and advertising for 47 years. He traveled all over the United States looking for deals. He set up at antique shows and put on an antique show in Enid for 10 years. Ron went to bottle and jar shows all over the United States where he met so many wonderful people. In 1989, Ron and his two brothers and their wives successfully opened and operated an antique mall in Blackwell for 28 years.
Ronald is survived by his wife Carol of the home, two daughters; Christie Ashby and Yvonne Brown, grandchildren, Alex, Lucas, and Sadie Brown, brother Paul and wife Janet Ashby, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Elvin and wife Dianne Ashby.
Memorials may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Research, Houston, TX with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
