Ivan Anderson

Ivan S Anderson, 94, of Enid went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 3, 2011.
He was born and raised in Hunter, OK on September 19, 1917. He was the son of Amanda (Karlson) Anderson and Seth A Anderson, both born in Norway. He was the youngest of three children and they lived east of Hunter on a farm. When he had hardly turned four years old, he rode a horse to first grade. He graduated from Hunter High School at age 16.
Ivan loved to dance and sing at a young age and thought about that as a career. His favorite singers were Tommy Duncan and Bob Wills. He attended college in Southern California before deciding to return to Oklahoma.
Ivan married Dorothy D Schultz on December 22, 1941 in Kansas. They lived northwest of Hunter where he farmed on the farm Dorothy’s dad’s family claimed in the Oklahoma Land Run, and lived in a dugout before building the house Ivan and Dorothy lived in. They belonged to the Hunter Baptist Church. In 1966 they moved to Enid, OK where they became members of the First Baptist Church. Ivan still farmed, sold real estate and was an auctioneer. Ivan and Dorothy would have been married 70 years on December 22, 2010 if Dorothy hadn’t passed away a few months before that date.
Ivan was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and his two sisters. Ivan has four children: Sherry Visich of Hunter, OK, Larry Anderson of Hunter, OK, Gayla Cain of Oklahoma City, OK and Carol Vollbrecht of Santa Monica, CA; nine grandchildren, Bobby, Heather, Tasha, Angie, Aubury, Rusty, Simon, Ellie and Andrea; three great grandchildren, Brianna, Logan and Presley.
Ivan’s life was farming and family. He never wanted to quit farming even after driving from Enid to Hunter for about forty years to be a part of it. He loved and enjoyed life and will be greatly missed by all his family.
Come and celebrate Ivan’s life with family and friends at 2:00 pm , November 7, 2011 at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Rev Keith Miller will officiate. A private burial will be in the White Cemetery, Hunter, OK. Arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
