Funeral services for James “Jim” Alvey will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church with Father Mark Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.
Jim was born July 9, 1931 in New Haven, Kentucky to Boone and Stella (Bowling) Alvey, and passed away December 12, 2021 in Ringwood. He served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He also served six additional years in the Air Force Reserves. Jim was a farmer and retired as a Rural Mail Carrier for Ringwood Postal Service.
Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Harriett Alvey; children, James M. Alvey, Jr. and wife Liz, Joyce M. Flynn and husband Tom, Jerry L. Alvey and wife Kyla; 7 grandchildren, Ryan Alvey, Jacqueline Marie Flynn, Isaac Flynn, Brendan Alvey, Rachelle Alvey, Alexandria Nicholson and Nicholas Maly; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Charlie Alvey; sisters, Lillian Bizzell and Martha Wheeler; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jacqueline Ann Alvey; brothers, Russell, Ed, Joe and Frankie Alvey; sisters, Catherine and Monica Alvey.
Memorial donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Humanity Hospice with Ladusau-Evans serving as custodian of the funds.
