Obituary for Deborah Kay Meeks (Rodgers)

A Celebration of Life for Deborah Kay “Debbie” Meeks, 61, of Meno OK, will be Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. in the Ladusau-Evans Chapel with Reverend Jim Edmison officiating. Cremation services are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Debbie was born January 26. 1961 in Durant, OK to William Rodgers Sr. of Durant, Ok and Mary Eastham of Antlers, Ok. Debbie was raised in Antlers and Ada, Ok. When her family moved back to Antlers She stayed with her god-sister Kathy and Father James Fox in Ada to attend high school. Debbie and Kathy were “best friends forever” and inseparable. One summer while visiting Kathy’s mother in Fairview, Ok Debbie met her soul mate Bobby Meeks. After returning to Ada, Debbie realized she could no longer be apart from Bobby. The two were married in Antlers on April 28, 1978 by Debbie’s grandfather. Debbie and Bobby made their home in Fairview where they started their beautiful family. Debbie found her calling in life caring for the elderly when she began working at the Fairview nursing home.

Debbie graduated from Autry Technology Center in 1996 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. While attending nursing school, she competed in the skills competition for the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA). After placing first in the state, she was able to attend the national competition held in Chicago, Illinois, and finished seventh for sterile technique. After devoting her nursing career to caring for the elderly, she retired after 20 years in 2016.

She passed away peacefully on December 18, 2022, at her home at Meno, OK with family at her side. She is preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; stepfather, Luther Eastham; and nephew, Steven Rodgers.

She is survived by her soulmate of 45 years, Bobby Meeks of Meno, OK; mother, Mary Eastham of Antlers, OK; father, William Rodgers Sr., of Durant, OK; sons, Joshua Meeks and wife Kristy of Meno, OK; Nathan Meeks and girlfriend Krista Hoffer of Yukon, OK; Zacharey Meeks and wife Amber, of Pond Creek; brother, William Rodgers Jr. and wife Kimberly of Meno, OK; sister Renee Turvey and husband Mark of Durant, OK; god-sister, Kathy Tucker and husband David of Fairview, OK; twenty-two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren whom she loved and adored. She is also survived by many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
