Obituary for Dale E. Vance

Funeral services for Dale E. Vance age 88 of Enid will be 2 pm Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Central Christian Church with Rev. John McLemore and Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday, March 18, 2013 from 5:00 to 6:30 PM at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home.

Dale was born September 10, 1924 in Enid to Ray and Mary Wright Vance and passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013 in St. Mary’s Hospital. He grew up in Enid attending and graduating from Enid High in 1942. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy on January 23, 1943. He served on the USS Young as a signalman during WWII and was honorably discharged on January 21, 1946. He married Melva Dean Parker on June 15, 1947 in Enid and she passed away on March 10, 2009.

Dale worked for Gold Spot Dairy, General Mills, and worked as postal clerk and rural route carrier for the U. S. Postal Service for 34 years retiring September 14, 1979. Dale was an active member of Central Christian Church, where he was a teacher for Adult Bible Study class for many years. He was one of the co-founders of the Caregivers of Central Christian Church. He also served as an elder for many years and served as a Stephen Minister. Dale served as a Boy Scout Leader and helped with Little Olympics for several years. Dale enjoyed being a member of the Men’s Garden Club.

Dale is survived by his daughters, Karen Foster and Carol Ingram and husband John all of Enid, grandchildren Tammy Hromas and husband Ted of Waukomis, Eric Ingram and wife Gena of Waukomis, Dustin Ingram and wife Mirah of Thornton, CO, Brian Foster of Enid, and Leah Goeke and husband Steve of Enid, 10 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Don Vance and a sister Lavonna (Bonnie) Morefield.

Memorials may be made to Central Christian Church Caregivers or Central Christian Youth Group with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodians of the funds.
